Blydest is located at 19c St Magnus Street, in the heart of Lerwick, Shetland's capital - perfectly positioned to explore Shetland, and all it has to offer, by car, bus or bike. The apartment has a three-star rating from VisitScotland and is tastefully decorated. Blydest offers comfortable, and well maintained, self-catering accommodation. An ideal base come winter or summer.
With a double bedroom, twin bedroom and open-plan living area, Blydest is comfortable for a couple, a group of friends or a family. You can relax, eat in, or if you prefer - dine out at one of the many local restaurants and cafés in town. Perhaps you'd like to hear traditional fiddle music at a local venue, take a walk, go shopping or just sit by the harbour and watch the world go by? You can do all this and more, because everything is easily accessible and right on your doorstep.
If you fly to Shetland, you can be at Blydest by car, taxi or bus, in under an hour. If you travel by sea to Lerwick - the apartment is less than 5-minutes drive from the quayside.
There are numerous visitor attractions within walking distance of Blydest, and if you'd like to explore, using Lerwick as your base, most destinations can be reached within an hour by car. For example, why not have a day-trip north and discover the dramatic cliffs of Eshaness? Or make your way down south and discover archaeological remains dating back over 4000 years. Don't forget to say hello to the Puffins at Sumburgh Head! Travel to the west and enjoy a walk and otter spotting. On your return, to Lerwick, explore Scalloway Castle, or book a boat trip and go fishing for a couple of hours. Don't worry, there really are enough hours in the day! Shetland experiences, from mid-May to mid-July, a phenomena called 'simmer dim', whereby the sun only dips below the northern horizon for a few hours. During the summer we can experience up to 19 hours of daylight. A game of midnight golf anyone?!
Shetland has an excellent road network and very little traffic. Even in high season - driving or cycling is an absolute pleasure. If you don't have your own transport, buses and guided tours allow you the luxury of viewing awesome scenery and abundant wildlife as you are chauffeured, in style, across our stunning islands.
